Long-Form Release

I joined director Kum-Kum Bhavnani’s intimate team to bring a decade-long documentary to life following pandemic delays. The film explores the human experience of living in exile, balancing intimate personal narratives along with broader themes of politics, science, the Dalai Lama, and a contemplation of human life.

A PROBLEM

Spanning footage captured across 2016, 2017, and 2023, the production accumulated roughly 40-50 hours of unorganized media files, interviews, and separate field recordings. Without a unified organizational architecture, the editorial team faced major bottlenecks in media retrieval, timeline assembly, and narrative pacing.

MY ROLE

As one of the Assistant Editors, I built and managed the core post-production pipeline to streamline workflow efficiency, eliminate search fatigue, and accelerate delivery:

  • Asset & Data Architecture: Ingested, standardized, and cataloged multi-year media formats, establishing structured bin systems, file names, folder structures, and metadata across all project drives.

  • Archiving & Logging: Transcribed extensive interview footage, logging timestamps, dialogue keywords, and critical B-roll for instantaneous asset retrieval.

  • Editorial & Narrative Support: Synthesized test screening feedback, compiled revision notes, and prepared scene assemblies to tighten story pacing and clarify the narrative arc.
